GABRIELLA HERNANDEZ

[ CAYMAN ISLANDS / SPAIN ]

Picture
Growing up in Grand Cayman, Gaby has a lifelong relationship and love for the sea. In 2004 Hurricane Ivan struck the islands, an event that left a lasting impression on the 12 year old, resulting in a sudden relocation. It was the first major move for her, a pattern that continued throughout her life, moving her life, study and work to Canada, Costa Rica, the UK and, now, Spain. Having studied Law, Public Policy and Management, she’s worked in public, private and not for profit organisations. In her studies, work and volunteerism, she’s motivated by a pursuit for new ideas, solutions and partnerships – to support the development of sustainable and resilient communities.

She is the co-founder of the sport-tech StartUp KANARA, a community platform developed for board sports enthusiasts. Built on the principles of sportsmanship and stewardship, KANARA seeks to motivate and reward riders via the digitalisation and gamification of rider sessions, events, competitions and trading. The young company's goal is to reserve a portion of platform profits for distribution to individuals or groups the community believes deserve support for executing real, sustainable action.
