Wave Changer is dedicated to speeding up the transition towards a more environmentally aware and socially progressive surfing industry.
We collaborate with, and inspire others, to ensure that surfers and those working in the surfing industry are transitioning to greener ways, sooner rather than later. Wave Changer aims to tackle the current global environmental issues facing the surfing world, leveraging from experts in surfing, academia, environmental science, tech and community.
It all started with an academic research thesis on the subject of Surfing and Sustainability (completed in 2018) which proved to be the catalyst for bigger and better things. We've given talks, facilitated workshops, mentored students and provided research and written content. There's more in the pipeline and we're excited to be forging partnerships with key players in the surfing world to safeguard the environment.
We're dedicated to the research, design and development of innovative products for the surfing industry, with Sustainability at the core of everything we do. To do this, we aim to challenge existing norms and usher in a new era of planet-friendly materials that will eventually be free of fossil fuels.
We're also committed to an ongoing analysis of consumer behaviours (consumers = surfers) and the product life cycle of surf equipment, i.e. we think stuff should be designed and manufactured with thoughtful consideration to it's end-of-life.
