T-Shirt Fundraiser [Covid-19]
Wave Changer and the Asylum Seekers Centre (ASC) have joined forces in this fundraising initiative by releasing a limited edition t-shirt (only 200 will be made!) The tee costs AU$39.99 with 100% profits going directly to vulnerable people who have been hit hard by the pandemic and lockdown effects in Sydney.
People seeking asylum are struggling, like all Australians through this pandemic. The difference is that there is no government safety net available to fall back on. Very few are entitled to any welfare support or Centrelink payments.
All donations to the ASC at this time will provide essential support services for people seeking asylum in Sydney. It costs $50 to provide basic groceries to an individual for a week, $100 for a family. $35 provides a mobile phone recharge to help someone stay connected to their lawyer, casework support and job advisor.

New Advisory Board
So far, so good. We've assembled a stellar bunch of Advisory Board members (here in Australia) to advise and participate in the early stages of planning at Wave Changer. It's been a challenge to stay patient and show restraint when there's so many great ideas buzzing around to develop, and so many interesting people to talk with and learn from. The whole process of establishing a purpose-driven organisation is proving to be a fascinating journey so far, and long may it continue...
The Advisory Board, as it stands, consists of 11 talented superstars: Prof Tony Sorensen, Nic Lowe, Louise Dever, Sarah Mathews, Prof Marc in het Panhuis, Laura Oxley, Dianne Moy, Greg Hendy, Dan McReady, Grant Newby and Loic Pedras. We'll aim to lock horns sometime in the next few months for our inaugural get-together to begin planning a sensible framework for the future of Wave Changer. Watch this space...

Presentation at UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures
This week, we're paying a visit to the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) at University of Technology Sydney. We'll be presenting research findings that formed part of a year-long thesis titled Environmental Initiatives and Consumer Behaviours in the Australian Surfing Industry, completed at University of New England, NSW, under the supervision of Prof Tony Sorensen. We look forward to hearing ISF's valuable feedback and ideas.
